After a year of pre-requisite courses, two years of articling, and a few personal tragedies it’s done. At 1pm today I finished writing the inaugural offering of the Comprehensive Final Exam aka CFE. This baby replaces the former exam for Chartered Accountants, the UFE, which for years has been striking fear into the hearts of accountants. Now there is a new beast with this CFE exam and I can promise you she’s different and she’s damn hard.
Day 1 is four hours, day 2 is 5 hrs, and day 3 is 4 hrs again. It took 8 weeks of full time studying, a corresponding mental breakdown each week, and a slew of beautiful people’s support. While it will be another few months before the results are announced, the following folks have my gratitude and thanks:
Mum. She is a veteran UFE writer, and my accounting guru who spent HOURS helping me through tough tough concepts which I had to otherwise self teach.
Jonny-because after two years of articling he still actually wants to marry me 🙂
Kim-My CFE mentor, who’s actual job it was to talk me off the ledge on a daily basis.
Kristy-my supervisor, who let(s) me interrupt here at least 15 times a day with questions.
My sailing coach Steve-who has been dealing with my competition-training-school-life neurosis for 10 years now. Yup Steve, we’re old.
My sis, family, and all my wonderful friends who took care of me and understand why I haven’t been in touch lately, I love you.
Okay exam results, it’s up to you now.
So now you can return to the outside world! Welcome back and GREAT JOB, quite an accomplishment.
XO Mum
